Dental patient reported outcome and oral health-related quality of life measures: protocol for a systematic evidence map of reviews

Abstract: Aims This research synthesis protocol addresses the question: what is the evidence concerning measurement properties of dental patient reported outcome measures (dPROMs), and regarding the real-world value of dPROMs, and where are the gaps in this evidence? Evidence mapping will systematically examine reviews of quantitative dPROMs used to assess the impact of oral health on the quality of life of dental patients and research participants. Evidence gaps where future research or systematic revie… Show more

“…We can reasonably speculate that if productivity loss had been considered, it would have increased the convenience of the antibiotic strategy even further, as it would have reduced the possibility of having to undergo implant replacement in case of implant failure. The most difficult parameter to determine was the QOL related to implant rehabilitation, since available data regarding oral health related QOL are variable [ 29 ]. GOHAI was used as the indicator of effectiveness concerning oral health QOL, as suggested by some studies [ 26 , 30 ].…”

“…A possible challenge will be to focus on dental patient-reported outcomes (dPROs) (such as, perceived quality of life, pain experience or satisfaction with the results), that encompasses both minors and adults. For each group, different sets of dPROs are available and may be interesting in future research [ 38 ].…”

“…Furthermore, if it had been considered, it would certainly have increased the convenience of the antibiotic strategy even more, as it would have reduced the possibility of having to undergo implant replacement in case of implant failure. The most di cult parameter to determine was the QOL related to implant rehabilitation, since available data regarding oral health related QOL are variable [25]. GOHAI was used for the indicator of effectiveness as an oral health QOL value, as suggested by some studies [21,26].…”
