The aim of this study was to investigate the compressive strength and surface roughness of two glass ionomer cements and two resin-based fissure sealants before and after fluoride release and recharge. Twenty-one specimens were prepared and divided into three groups for each material. First group was loaded in compression until failure. Fluoride released was measured from the remaining specimens, and then the second group of seven specimens was loaded at 28 th day. The remaining seven specimens were exposed to 0.05％ NaF solution and 1.23％ APF gel. Fluoride amount was measured, and the last group was loaded at 70 th day. Surface roughness measurement of five more disk-shaped specimens from each material was also carried out. After exposure to APF gel, all materials were recharged. At the end of experimental period, it was found that surface roughness increased, whereas compressive strength decreased, over time. In conclusion, fluoride-releasing fissure sealants could act as show, rechargeable fluoride release systems. However, if a fissure sealant exhibited high fluoride release, it had inferior mechanical properties.

The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the metal substructure for dental prosthesis made from a Co-Cr-Mo-W alloy by two techniques, i.e. precision investment casting and selective laser melting (SLM). It was found that the roughness of the raw surface of the SLM sinter is higher than the roughness of the cast surface, which is compensated by the process of blast cleaning during metal preparation for the application of a layer of porcelain. Castings have a dendritic structure, while SLM sinters are characterized by a compact, fine-grain microstructure of the hardness higher by about 100 HV units. High performance and high costs of implementation the SLM technology are the cause to use it for the purpose of many dental manufacturers under outsourcing rules. The result is a reduction in manufacturing costs of the product associated with dental work time necessary to scan, designing and treatment of sinter compared with the time needed to develop a substructure in wax, absorption in the refractory mass, casting, sand blasting and finishing. As a result of market competition and low cost of materials, sinter costs decrease which brings the total costs related to the construction unit making using the traditional method of casting, at far less commitment of time and greater predictability and consistent sinter quality.

Biodegradable trifunctional oligomer was synthesized from polycaprolactone and glutamic acid and characterized by Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopies. Injectable and in situ crosslinkable polymer networks were fabricated by the copolymerization of oligomer with triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) and used to evaluate the initial compressive strengths, viscosities, shrinkages, thermal stabilities, and biodegradabilities in the forms of polymer network neat resin and their composites with β‐tricalcium phosphate. The initial compressive strengths (CS) values of neat resins ranged from 9.54 to 187.6 MPa. Both neat resins and composites had polymerization shrinkage ranging from 0% to 11.7%, which increased with increasing of TEGDMA contents in resin. Moreover, in polymer composite resins, shrinkage values decreased with increasing filler level from 0% to 4.6%, and exothermic evolution values decreased from 33.5°C to 29.7°C as increasing filler level. The composite with the formulation of (polycaprolactone)‐glutamate triacrylate (PCLGTA)/TEGDMA (25/75) and powder/liquid (P/L) ratio of 1.0 exhibited the highest exothermal and lowest shrinkage values. The increase of oligomer in the formulation led to an increase in viscosity.
