Density, Viscosity, Speed of Sound, Bulk Modulus, Surface Tension, and Flash Point of Binary Mixtures of Butylbenzene + Linear Alkanes (n-Decane, n-Dodecane, n-Tetradecane, n-Hexadecane, or n-Heptadecane) at 0.1 MPa

Abstract: This work reports physical property measurements of binary mixtures of butylbenzene with n-decane, n-dodecane, n-tetradecane, n-hexadecane, or n-heptadecane. Densities and viscosities were measured at temperatures from (293.15 to 373.15) K, and speeds of sound were measured at temperatures from (293.15 to 333.15) K, except for those of n-heptadecane, which were measured starting at 303.15 K. Densities increased with increasing mole fraction of butylbenzene. Excess molar volumes were positive and increased with… Show more

“…This collection has been complemented—and its data compared—by the more recent collective papers [ 11 , 12 , 17 , 18 ]. Additionally, surface-tension data have been provided for various alkanes [ 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 ], alkylbenzenes [ 25 ], haloalkanes [ 26 , 27 ], halogenated esters and ethers [ 28 ], sulfoxides [ 29 ], and siloxanes [ 30 , 31 ]. Of particular interest are surface-tension data for ionic liquids.…”

“…Previous studies have investigated the physical properties of mixtures containing these compounds. The density and viscosity have been measured for two-component mixtures of butylcylclohexane with n -alkanes ranging from n -heptane to n -hexadecane, two-component mixtures of toluene with n -alkanes ranging from n -octane to n -hexadecane, and two-component mixtures of butylbenzene with n -alkanes ranging from n -decane to n -heptadecane, and two-component mixtures of hexylbenzene with hexadecane . The density and speed of sound have been measured for two-component mixtures of toluene with cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane, and butylcyclohexane. , These studies have reported excess molar volumes that deviate from zero in either a positive or negative direction depending on the study.…”
