Tarsius supriatnai is a new species experiencing a declining population trend due to deforestation. This study aims to determine the microhabitat preferences and site fidelity of T. supriatnai in the agricultural areas and secondary forests of the Popayato-Paguat landscape, Gorontalo, Indonesia. Measuring important value index (IVI) conducted by vegetation analysis of the nest tree location found in the two habitats was carried out using a quadrat method in seedling, sapling, pole, and tree forms. In addition, temperature and light intensity around the nest tree was also measured. The results showed that in the habitat of agricultural areas, the plant with the highest IVI was not the nest tree. Meanwhile, in the secondary forest habitat, the plant with the highest IVI at the tree form (Ficus virens) was the nest tree used by T. supriatnai. The diversity value of the H’ and E index showed that the two habitats were in the high to moderate. There was no significant difference in temperature and light intensity between the two habitat types. The results also showed that T. supriatnai mostly used the nest tree of Bambusa vulgaris (26.32%) in the agriculture area and Schizostachyum lima and Calamus zollingeri (28.57%) in the secondary forest. A survey was conducted to evaluate site fidelity to several nest trees found in 2018. The result revealed that T. supriatnai still uses 42.9% of nest trees.

Tarsiers (Tarsius supriatnai) were part of the endemic primates in Sulawesi categorized as vulnerable in the IUCN red list. Therefore, this research aimed to describe and analyze the characteristics, preferences, and determinant factors influencing the use of nest trees by tarsiers in Nantu Wildlife Reserve, Gorontalo. This research used a direct observation method to collect data for three months, from September to November 2013, focusing on temperature, humidity, light intensity, tree height, tree diameter, nest height from the ground, and frequency of nest use. Moreovr, the Neu index was applied to determine nest preferences and multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the factors influencing nest tree selection. The results showed that the primates preferred eight nest trees, including Ficus altissima (w=1.58) and Ficus benjamina (w=1.50). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the humidity (4.103±3.674%, P>0.05) and light intensity (126.362±41.149 lx, P<0.05) became dominant factors influencing the frequency of nest use. The results generally showed that vegetation species and microclimate conditions were crucial for tarsiers, indicating the importance of preserving forest areas to ensure the conservation of these primates.

The Kuwil Village Forest City holds an endemic species of Tangkasi (Tarsier spectrum). The condition of forests that characterizes primary forests makes the stems remain in the forest area still status is urban forest. The area of the City Forest of the Kuwil Village is ± 43 ha with a total sampling area of 0.0275 km2 or 2.75 ha with the number of plots installed putting together 14 plots that form a circle with a radius of 25 m. Data was collected in the morning at 05.00-06.15 WITA. Based on the research results obtained a total of duet calls at the location obtained 18 duet calls with a total of 2627 tails / km2 or 26.27 tails / ha which indicates a high population density in urban forest areas. Kuwil City Forest has a variety of potential wildlife that can be processed for conservation of its sustainability. Wildlife conservation can be useful in the future so that it can be used as the development of wildlife utilization both for recreation, natural attractions, and research development. Luas area Hutan Kota Desa Kuwil adalah ± 43 ha dengan luas area total pengambilan sampel adalah 0,0275 km2 atau 2,75 ha dengan jumlah plot yang di pasang berjumlah 14 plot berbentuk lingkaran dengan jari-jari 25 m. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada pagi hari pukul 05.00-06.15 WITA. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh total duet call di lokasi berjumlah 18 duet call dengan jumlah 2627 ekor/Km2 atau 26,27 ekor/ha yang menunjukkan kepadatan populasi tangkasi pada kawasan hutan kota jumlah populasi yang tinggi. Hutan Kota Kuwil mempunyai beragam potensi satwaliar yang dapat diolah untuk memelihara kelestariannya. Konservasi satwaliar dapat berguna kedepannya agar dapat digunakan sebagai pengembangan pendayagunaan satwaliar baik untuk rekreasi, objek wisata alam, dan pengembangan penelitian.
