Density and Viscosity Measurements of Binary Alkanol Mixtures from (293.15 to 333.15) K at Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract: Density and viscosity of binary mixtures of {x 1isobutanol + x 21-propanol}, {x 1isobutanol + x 22-propanol}, and {x 13-amino-1-propanol + x 21-propanol} were measured over the entire composition range and from temperatures (293.15 to 333.15) K at ambient pressure. The excess molar volumes and viscosity deviations were calculated and correlated by the Redlich–Kister and McAllister equations, respectively. The excess molar volumes are negative over the entire mole fraction range for all of the mixtures and beco… Show more

“…A negative molar excess volume is found, which is caused by the structuring of alcohol + water mixtures due to H-bonding. Data on the viscosity of mixtures of 1-propanol and water have been reported by several authors 17,18,[20][21][22][23][24][25][26] . The mixture viscosities are higher than it would be the case for ideal mixtures, which is as well caused by H-bonding.…”

“…In contrast, plenty of data have been reported for mixtures of 1-propanol and water (without INN). Many authors have measured their density [13][14][15][16][17][18][19] . A negative molar excess volume is found, which is caused by the structuring of alcohol + water mixtures due to H-bonding.…”
