Density and Strength of Foamed Concrete: The Influence on Dynamic Characteristics of Lightweight Profiled Composite Slabs

Abstract: Recently, foamed concrete composite slab has received inclusive attention as sustainable and reliable structural component. The fascination toward lightweight and ductile materials have directed to the application of foamed concrete and corrugated steel deck. The use of these materials is to avoid the weight penalty and subsequently accelerate the construction processes of building. On the other hand, the performance of foamed concrete composite slab as compared with conventional slab was found very promising.… Show more

“…Vibration responses and energy dissipation are governed by the FC topping thickness on the composite slab [92]. The composite slab of FC has a damping ratio of approximately 3-5% [92,93], whereas the damping ratio for floor systems is typically 1-3% [94]. The lowest fundamental natural frequency of the FC composite slab satisfies the minimum requirement of the standard code of practice for the design of floors [95].…”

“…Microspheres can be fabricated from different types of natural and synthetic materials or even inorganic materials. Cases of fabrication of microspheres from commercially available ceramics microspheres, glass microsphere, or polymers microsphere have been reported in literatures [2,[4][5][6]. Depending on the technique, solid or hollow microspheres are widely used in density and, therefore, are used for different or specific intended applications [7][8][9].…”

“…There is no available literature on accidental loads such as impact and seismic. Rum et al [13] investigated the vibration behaviour of lightweight composite slabs subjected to the hammer-impact test. Of interest are the effects of the density of foamed concrete.…”
