Density and excess properties of N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) with 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate [hmim][FAP]

Abstract: In the present work, new data on the densities and refractive indices for 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate [hmim] [FAP] with N-methyldiethanolamine are reported for various concentrations and at temperatures (303.15-328.15) K. Excess molar volumes V E and excess refractive indices n E D were calculated from the experimental data. Refractive index values for the binary mixtures were predicted by using Lorentz-Lorenz, Gladstone-Dale and Eykman equations. Excess molar volumes … Show more

“…To the best of our knowledge, limited articles are published on the physical properties of binary IL + (MDEA, DEA) systems and no article has been published on the density, viscosity, and refractive index data of the IL + AMP binary mixture. A comparison between the data obtained in this work for [Emim][Ac] + MDEA binary systems with the literature , shows that the density changes as [Hmim][FAP] + MDEA > [Hmim][Tf 2 N] + MDEA > [Bmim][BF 4 ] + MDEA > [Hmim][BF 4 ] + MDEA > [Emim][Ac] + MDEA > [Bmim][Ac] + MDEA, and viscosity of the [Bmim][Ac] + MDEA > [Emim][Ac] + MDEA > [Hmim][BF 4 ] + MDEA > [Bmim][BF 4 ] + MDEA > [hmim][Tf 2 N] + MDEA and the refractive index changes as [Emim][Ac] + MDEA > [Hmim][BF 4 ] + MDEA ≈ [Hmim][Tf 2 N] + MDEA > [Hmim][FAP] + MDEA.…”

A comparison between the data obtained in this work for [Emim][Ac] + MDEA binary systems with the literature [18][19][20][21]37 shows that the density changes as The Redlich−Kister polynomial as displayed in eq 9 is used to correlate excess molar volumes, viscosity deviations, and excess refractive indices at each temperature…”
