Densities and Viscosities of 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium Tetrafluoroborate + H2O Binary Mixtures from (303.15 to 353.15) K

Abstract: Densities and viscosities of water (1) + 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (2) were measured over the entire mole fraction range from (303.15 to 353.15) K. From these data, excess molar volumes (V E ), and viscosity deviations (∆η) were calculated. The V E and ∆η were fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation using a multiparametric nonlinear regression method. Estimated coefficients of the Redlich-Kister equation and standard deviation calculated from the Redlich-Kister equation to the experimental da… Show more

“…Thus, in Figure 1 we plot density vs. IL molar fraction for aqueous mixtures of five imidazolium Malhan et al, 2007;Ge et al, 2009) and the only two pyridinium based ILs (Ortega et al, 2008;Mokhatarani et al, 2009b), all of them with BF 4 as common anion. Other authors also measured some of those systems, but results are very similar (Zhou et al, 2006;Zhang et al, 2006;Wu et al, 2009). The behaviour is very similar for all of the systems with BF 4 anion, and the absolute value decreases with the cation size.…”

“…In this respect, we compare the outcomes of our calculations with those obtained from Fadaei-Nobandegani et al [40]. Table 3 contains the AAD of the calculated densities of binary mixtures using the present model and other equations of state [40] from the literature data [32][33][34][35][36]. Close inspection of the results shows the ability of the present model to describe liquid density data for IL mixtures.…”

“…Table 2 tabulates the AAD of the predicted densities of several binary of IL + IL and IL + solvent mixtures at various temperatures and mole fractions from literature values [32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39]. Besides, the maximum deviations (MD) of the calculations have also been included in Table 2.…”
