DenHunt - A Comprehensive Database of the Intricate Network of Dengue-Human Interactions

Abstract: Dengue virus (DENV) is a human pathogen and its etiology has been widely established. There are many interactions between DENV and human proteins that have been reported in literature. However, no publicly accessible resource for efficiently retrieving the information is yet available. In this study, we mined all publicly available dengue–human interactions that have been reported in the literature into a database called DenHunt. We retrieved 682 direct interactions of human proteins with dengue viral componen… Show more

“…For example, HCVpro is an HCV-specific database for human–HCV PPIs [13] . DenHunt and DenvInt are databases for PPIs between human and dengue virus [14] , [15] . ZikaBase is an integrated database for the ZIKV–human interactome map [16] .…”

“…The first one consists of PPI for species-specific databases encompassing only one specific viral species. It includes NCBI HIV-1 Human Interaction Database [ 30 ], HCVpro [ 31 ], DenHunt [ 32 ], DenvInt [ 33 ] and ZikaBase [ 34 ]. The second category on the other hand comprises of a wider range of virus species databases such as Viruses.STRING [ 35 ], VirusMentha [ 36 ], PHISTO [ 37 ], VirHostNet [ 38 ] and HPIDB [ 39 ].…”

“…An in silico study using DenHunt has shown that the dengue viral proteins are interacted directly with some proteins involved in Rap1 signaling pathway (Karyala et al, 2016). Those interactions are believed to interfere with the expression of host miRNA, resulting in a differential expression of some specific miRNAs.…”
