A sample of 120 trees was purposely selected from four different microsites (Behere, Swaratoka, Zawita, and Semel), (30 trees from each microsite) in the Duhok governorate. 100 of which were used for model calibration and the rest were used for validation of the selected regression equation. This study consisted of two main parts. In the first part ,In the beginning, a scatter diagram was conducted for each microsite to detect the type of relationship between height and diameter at breast, which in turn will decrease the number of regression models that will be tested. Accordingly, 4 regression equations were developed for each of the four microsites separately. These models can be used to see how the ratio of height diameter in each of the studied sites is inter-correlated and which of them is the most appropriate for producing Calabrian pine trees. In the second part, all microsites were then treated as one sample for estimating the parameters of 25 regression models using Excel and Statographic packageThe developed regression models underwent a screening process in order to find the most appropriate one to be used for the prediction of the height of Calabrian pine grown in the four mentioned microsites in Duhok governorate. Many measures of precision among them coefficient of determination, Bias%, Mean absolute error, Ohtomo’s unbiased test, Furnival Index, and AIC criterion were used for testing the performance of the developed equations in the prediction of the height. At last, the equation was selected, as the best regression model. This equation shows that there is a linear relationship between and a curvilinear relationship between D and H. The study showed that the height–diameter ratio was highest in Swaratoka and was the most appropriate microsite among the rest, followed by Behere, then Zawita and Semel came in last place.

The purpose of this study is to use mathematical and statistical analysis in testing the performance ability of standard volume models in volume prediction of Gall Oak trees. A sample of 205 non - destructive trees was purposely selected from Duhok Governorate, Kurdistan region, Iraq. Of which 157 were used for estimating the parameters of regression models and the rest (48) trees served as validation data. Using computer facilities, the available software packages, and tools including STATGRAPHIC Centurion and Excel tool, the parameters of 28 models were estimated. A multistage procedure was used for screening the generated regression equations and selecting the most appropriate one, which underwent validation with independent data. In this study, a new criterion was proposed and used for testing the accuracy of regression equations in the prediction of the dependent variable. At the end of this process, the regression equation Vt = 0.00442+0.0108D^1.917H was finally selected as the most appropriate one that fits the data.

This study was conducted for two main purposes, the first one was to study the mathematical relationship between naturally growing gall oak trees in three microsites (Chamankey, Swaratoka, and Baroshky) in Dohuk Governorate and the second one was to compare the ability of linear and nonlinear regression models in height estimation. For such purposes, a sample of 152 trees was purposely selected from these microsites in such a way that they cover the whole variation of breast height diameter in these microsites. The STATGRAPHIC Centurion along with other computer facilities including Excel were used in estimating the parameters of 32 regression models for all microsites together. Many criteria for testing the performance ability of the developed regression equations in the prediction of the height of trees were used in order to select the most appropriate regression model for all microsites together. Screening of the generated models was performed in three stages; the first one is the use of mathematical analysis to see if they have biological limitations. The second stage is to see the performance ability of homogeneous models,(models with the same form of the dependent variable) in the prediction of the dependent variable. The last stage dealt with testing the performance ability of heterogeneous models, (models with different forms of the dependent variable) in the prediction of the dependent variable.
