Dendritic Polyurea Polymers

Abstract: Dendritic polymers, subsuming dendrimers as well as hyperbranched or highly branched polymers are well established in the field of polymer chemistry. This review article focuses on urea based dendritic polymers and summarizes their synthetic routes through both isocyanate and isocyanate-free processes. Furthermore, this article highlights applications where dendritic polyureas show their specific chemical and physical potential. For these purposes scientific publications as well as patent literature are invest… Show more

“…They are widely used in lacquers, coatings, varnishes and reaction injection molding systems. However, the introduction of branching units alters the intrinsic properties of these polymers and improves their solubility, which can be a benefit for some applications [31].…”

“…This transformation was used to detect urea in urine by a phosphorescence sensor based on manganese doped zinc sulfide QDs . Polyureas are an important class of polymers, with applications in many fields, particularly, emergent polyurea dendrimers and their branched and hyperbranched counterparts . In this work, we investigated the molecular weight determination by enzymatic degradation using polyurea dendrimers as a case study, but linear and crosslinked polymers are envisaged to be suitable materials to investigate using this methodology.…”
