Abstract:Selenocysteine selenenic acids (Sec–SeOHs) and selenocysteine selenenyl iodides (Sec–SeIs) have long been recognized as crucial intermediates in the catalytic cycle of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and iodothyronine deiodinase (Dio), respectively.
