“…The low social class of the population may be a contributing factor in the high overall nonattendance rate, as found in studies investigating the relationship between social class and motivation for psychotherapy (Brill and Storrow, 2960;Frank et al, 2957;Holingshead and Redlick, i958;Lief and Lief, 2965;Robinson, et al, 5954;Rosenthal and Frank, 2958 ). The distribution of diagnostic categories seen in this clinic differs from the national surveys of clinic populations mainly in the higher proportion of psychoneuroses and the relatively fewer personality disorders and situational reactions (Bahn and Norman, i959;Bahn, et al, i963;Kramer, 1967;Norman, et al, 1962;Rosen, Bahn, and Kramer, 1964). This indicates differences in the clinic population but does not shed any light on the distribution of disease in those people who do not attend the clinics.…”
