“…The presidential government system was far more successful than the federal government system in the 150 countries studied. This was also supported by a comparison of two European countries with presidential government systems, Italy and France, as well as two countries with federal government systems, Germany and Switzerland [54] .According to Carla Norrlof, 2020, the case of mortality due to the Covid-19 pandemic is much higher in democratic capitalism countries than in socialist countries, which is explained by the fact that in democratic capitalism countries, all policy factors must be based on the international order of democracy, causing policies to be slow to implement [56], while the presidential system of government is more effective because the resulting policies can be directly implemented throughout the country's territory, in contrast to the state system, the real power lies with each state, so synchronization steps are required first between the resulting policies of the state government itself, which is slower in terms of speed/time than the presidential system of government [57,58]. Background and Objective: The world was divided into two major ideologies of power, involving countries of socialist and democratic capitalism, which presented different ways of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Each major power claims to be the best informed and resolute in handling the pandemic. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the success factors in coping with the pandemic in countries with capitalist and socialist government regimes. Methods: This study uses a systematic review of the literature, using the PICO strategy for the construction of the research question, the bibliographic search and the best available scientific information in the systematization. Results: Summarize the main results described in Table 2, indicating how many articles presented better and worse results in socialist and capitalist countries. Conclusion: Socialist countries, despite acting in a repressive and authoritarian way, had better results in facing the COVID-19 pandemic, compared to capitalist countries. Care is needed when interpreting these results, due to the risk of manipulation of information adopted in socialist countries, due to the control of the media and government bodies.

Background The resilience of democracy is tested under exogenous shocks such as crises. The COVID-19 pandemic has recently tested the resilience of democratic institutions and practices around the world. Aim The purpose of this article is to scope the early research literature that discusses democracy and the COVID-19 pandemic. We review scientific journal articles published during the first two years of the pandemic. We ask three research questions in scoping this body of literature: (1) what are the key topic areas of all published research that associates itself with both democracy and COVID-19, (2) what kinds of conceptual and theoretical contributions has research literature that more specifically discusses democracy under the pandemic produced, and (3) what are the impacts of democracy to the pandemic and vice versa according to empirical research? Methods The scoping review methodology draws on systematic literature search strategies, computational methods, and manual coding. The systematic Web of Science search produced 586 articles for which we conducted a Correlated Topic Model. After technical and manual screening, we identified 94 journal articles that were manually coded. Results The early research on democracy and the COVID-19 pandemic offers a versatile body of scholarship. The topic modeling shows that the scholarship discusses issues of crises, governance, rights, society, epidemiology, politics, electorate, technology, and media. The body of papers with conceptual and theoretical contributions has offered new insights on the difficulties, possibilities, and means to maintain democracy under a pandemic. Empirical research on democracy’s impact on the COVID-19 pandemic and vice versa varies in terms of methodology, geographical scope, and scientific contributions according to the direction of influence studied. Democracy appears to have a significant impact on some aspects of policy responses and epidemiological characteristics of the pandemic. In most parts of the world, the scope, franchise, and authenticity of democracy narrowed down due to the pandemic, albeit in most cases only temporarily. Conclusions A significant number of papers show that the pandemic has accentuated democratic backsliding but is unlikely to have undermined established democracies that have proved resilient in face of the pandemic. But empirical research has also made visible some weak signals of antidemocratic tendencies that may become more accentuated in the longer run.

Due to the strong support and help of the government during the recent economic crisis, the number of corporate insolvencies in the Republic of Moldova maintained the same tendency since 2017. This paper focuses on the evolution of firm exit due to bankruptcy in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, with a special attention to the Republic of Moldova. The study was carried out on a sample of 15 countries in the period 2013-2020. Data was collected from Euler Hermes, Allianz Research and Creditreform reports. The research methods used in this paper are: data collection, data processing, time series trend model estimation and descriptive analysis. Examining trends allows the identification and analysis of the main trends that appear within the analyzed phenomenon. In most cases, the level of fit of the model to the empirical data indicates its practical utility. The obtained econometric tool can be used for forecasting the examined variable.
