“…Finally, by expanding existing IB research on reshoring through the inclusion of demandbased drivers for reshoring, we explicitly answer the call to examine the role of the demand characteristics in explaining the company decision-making process (Priem et al, 2012;Siqueira et al, 2015). We identify consumer beliefs about reshoring and suggest that companies take them into consideration in their reshoring decisions, together with the cost-and resource-based considerations identified in previous IB research.…”

“…We conceive of reshoring as a voluntary decision on the part of a company to relocate its activities back to the home country after having implemented an offshoring decision in the past, regardless of the ownership of the activities reshored (Ellram, 2013;Gray, Skowronski, Esenduran, & Rungtusanatham, 2013). Our work complements the existing research in international business (IB) on reshoring by analyzing the phenomenon from a demand-side perspective (Priem, Li, & Carr, 2012;Siqueira, Priem, & Parente, 2015), arguing that the home country's demand characteristics can play a role in explaining company reshoring decisions. Thus, we aim to contribute to IB research by adding a new element to the existing knowledge base about the drivers for reshoring, namely, Consumer Reshoring Sentiment (CRS).…”

“…We propose that the host-country from which a company reshores plays a role in shaping home-country consumer responses. No research to date has taken into consideration this effect, and this gap calls for specific research in the reshoring context centered on consumer demand characteristics able to affect company decision-making processes (e.g., Siqueira et al 2015).…”

“…Lounsbury and Crumley 2007;Tumbas et al 2015). The broader business ecosystem model extending the institutional theory has been applied in innovation research only quite recently by Vargo et al (2015) and Siqueira et al (2015).…”

“…Vargo et al 2015and Siqueira et al (2015) have only recently conceptualized a broader business ecosystem model in innovation research. These studies extend the traditional or institutional views of markets by considering business-to-business and business-to-consumer encounters as processes, i.e.…”
