Delivery Trials

Abstract: Ships are subjected to delivery trials to assess their performance and to evaluate this against the regulatory requirements and the specifications in the new building contract. Depending on the ship type, delivery trials comprise speed/power performance as well as more detailed characteristics such as cavitation, hull‐pressure fluctuations, and noise and vibration. Procedures for trial conduct, measurements, and analysis to derive at reliable results acceptable to all parties involved are described.
