Abstract:Excited states have been identified in the very neutron-deficient N = Z + 3 nucleus 111 Xe for the first time, using the 58 Ni(58 Ni, αn) heavy-ion fusion-evaporation reaction. γ-ray transitions have been unambiguously assigned to 111 Xe by correlation with the characteristic 111 Xe → 107 Te → 103 Sn α-decay chain using the method of recoil-decay tagging. Inspection of γ γ-coincidence data has shown that five of the transitions form a rotational-like sequence. Excitation-energy systematics suggest that the seq… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
