“…In 'delayed SIDS', 12% had intradural bleeding and 4% subdural bleeding, defined as 3-5mL of parafalcine blood. 59,105 These may be underrepresentations because both were retrospective reviews of autopsy reports.…”

“…We recommend dividing Resuscitated SUDEP into 2 categories: failed resuscitated SUDEP and potential resuscitated SUDEP , distinguishing cases more responsive to resuscitative efforts with a greater chance for meaningful recovery. This parallels “delayed death” in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), where resuscitation delays death in ~6.4% of cases . Pathophysiological differences could be blurred if intervention is delayed beyond a critical time.…”

“…This parallels "delayed death" in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), where resuscitation delays death iñ 6.4% of cases. 29 Pathophysiological differences could be blurred if intervention is delayed beyond a critical time. Some SUDEP and failed Resuscitated SUDEP may be classified as potential Resuscitated SUDEP if resuscitated earlier.…”

“…All of the cases were assigned a retrospective diagnosis of SIDS given they fulfilled the 2004 San Diego general definition for SIDS [1]. Also, SIDS cases that were successfully resuscitated and subsequently experienced a delayed death were excluded from analysis, thereby precluding the possible confounding influence of multi-organ failure and pathology [33] on the formation of IP. Finally, our analyses include every non-delayed SIDS case in San Diego County for which relevant data was known during a 15-year study period (1991)(1992)(1993)(1994)(1995)(1996)(1997)(1998)(1999)(2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005), compared to our previous report which relied upon a convenience sample of only 199 cases from a shorter study interval (1991)(1992)(1993)(1994)(1995)(1996)(1997)(1998)(1999).…”
