“…[230][231][232] A pioneering role in the development of zeolite Na-LTA zeolite membranes for the dehydration of bio-ethanol was played by Bussan Nanotech Research Institute Inc. (BNRI), Japan, a Member of the Mitsui Holding, which developed a process for the production of fuel-grade ethanol by a hybrid distillation/vapor permeation process. 233,234 240,241 came into the focus. A combined seeding method by using ball-milled seeds was developed at Nanjing University of Technology for the synthesis of LTA zeolite membranes, which could improve reproducibility and reduce synthesis time significantly.…”

“…Zeolite A in its as-synthesized form (molecular sieve 4A) has the unit cell formula, Na 12 (AlO 2 ) 12 •nH 2 O. Sodium ions can be exchanged by other calcium, silver, potassium or other metal ions to yield adsorbents with desired properties for different applications.…”

“…It is the use of hydrophilic zeolite membranes in the dehydration of organic solvents. In detail, NaA membranes have been used in a large-scale pervaporation plant mainly for alcohols by BNRI (Mitsui Holding) [43], and further progress on LTA membranes in the pervaporation separation of water was achieved over the years [44][45][46][47]. An important consideration on the way for industrial application might be the availability of membranes characterized by suitable performances at reasonable prices.…”
