“…The biodegradation of organotin compounds, such as degradation by bacteria (Harinoa et al, 1997;Inoue et al, 2000), has been studied in detail. The abiotic degradation mainly includes the gamma irradiation (Allen et al, 1987) and photolysis (Maguire et al, 1983;Blunden, 1983;Mailhot et al, 1999). Some investigations have been conducted to study the process of photodegradation of organotin compounds because photolysis is an important process for organotin compounds in the environment.…”

“…Since all the oyster taken in summer in this study were wild and those in other seasons were farmed, the seasonal change in oyster may be related to the fact whether it is wild or farmed. Otherwise, as organotin compounds have strong affinity for lipids (Maguire et al 1983;Tsuda et al 1986), the seasonal changes of organotin compounds may be due to the seasonal changes of lipids concentrations in edible portions in fish and shellfish. The reason for the seasonal change seems to be different from one species to another.…”

“…It has been studied that triorganotin compounds are metabolized in the microsomal monooxygenase system into diorganotin, monoorganotin compounds and inorganic tin (Kimmel et al 1977). They are also degraded in an aquatic environment (Soderquist and Crosby 1980;Maguire et al 1983). It will be therefore worthwhile to investigate the correlations among organotin compounds.…”

“…La dégradation des tributyl et triméthylé-tains en milieu aqueux est cependant plus rapide que celle des dérivés disubstitués et les mécanismes réac-tionnels sont encore mal connus. La demi-vie du TBT dans l'eau varie en fonction des conditions de milieu, de pH, de température, de turbidité et d'éclairement (5). La dégradation est plus rapide dans les eaux de mer chargées de matières en suspension.…”
