Degradation of porstaglandin F2alpha in the human pulmonary circulation.

Abstract: (1976). Thorax, 31,[713][714][715][716][717][718][719]. Degradation of prostaglandin F,a in the human pulmonary circulation. Degradation of prostaglandins (PGs) during passage through the human pulmonary circulation was investigated by measuring the transpulmonary plasma PGF2a difference during continuous intravenous infusion of PGF2a (5-10 ,ug/min). Seven patients with cardiological disorders and two patients with extensive pulmonary abnormalities were investigated during diagnostic cardiac catheterization. P… Show more

“…Prostaglandins were extracted from 1 ml aliquots of exudate fluid as described by Higgs & Salmon (1979) and measured by radioimmunoassay as described previously (Jose et al, 1976). The cross-reaction data for the anti-6-oxo-PGFi,, and anti-PGE2 antisera have been described by Hensby et al (1981) …”

“…These samples were partially purified using Sep-Pak C18 cartridges and then assayed for the presence of immunoreactive PGE2 and immunoreactive 6-keto PGF1., the stable metabolite of PGI2, according to the method of Jose et al (1976). In these experiments four organ baths were set up each containing a zig-zag preparation obtained from the same guinea-pig trachea.…”

“…Radioimmunoassay for cyclo-oxygenase products was performed according to the method of Jose et al (1976). The cross-reactivities for the antisera for 6-keto-PGFIc, and thromboxane B2 (TXB2) have been previously reported (Watts et al, 1982).…”
