Degradation Behaviour and Kinetics of UV Cured Epoxidised Soybean Oil Derivatives

Abstract: Green resins based from sustainable resources are a requirement nowadays to replace non environmental coatings. Low (VOC) content epoxy which competes with conventional well established coating and high price could be derived from oil. UV curable resin is typically low VOC systems and offer advantages of rapid ambient cross linking and more energy efficient. Epoxy resins must have fast curing and low shrinkage upon cure which will give advantages to devices performance but epoxy resins are expensive and hence … Show more

“…As prepared, modified ESO will be used for the coating resin having specified oxirane and acid content. According to Rahmah et al [5] the oxirane ring of epoxidised soy oil ESO is open to derivatization process which was then undergo modification step by addition of carboxy;ic acid. Under the predescribed conditions of this method, the oxygen was titrated directly with hydrogen bromide in acetic acid according to AOCS Official Method Cd 9-57(Official Method and recommend practices of the American oil chemists).…”
