Abstract:A previously developed two-dimensional-basin model of the global thermohaline circulation has been asynchronously coupled to an atmospheric energy balance model in support of analyses of the low frequency variability of the climate system. The coupled model, which has previously delivered successful simulations of the Dansgaard-Oeschger oscillations revealed in deep ice-core isotopic data from Summit, Greenland, is herein applied to the last deglaciation event of the current ice age in order to investigate the… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
