Abstract:Effects of objective lens defocusing on the diffraction images of stacking faults are studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that defocusing results either in displacement of the stacking fault image or in a change of the amplitude of the intensity oscillations depending on the diffraction conditions and the location depth of an imperfection. Methods of determining the nature of stacking faults using defocused microphotographs are proposed.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
