Por medio de un modelado de procesos de negocios, en general las organizaciones han logrado optimizar sus procesos a través de una arquitectura de procesos robusta y automatizada. De igual forma, a través de la gestión de riesgos las empresas buscan garantizar que se identifique, analice y responda adecuadamente a los riesgos que pueden afectar negativamente la realización de sus objetivos estratégicos. Con base en la evaluación de riesgos, una organización deberá elegir si acepta, mitiga o transfiere el riesgo a otro o al mismo proceso. Cuando se realiza de manera efectiva, la gestión de los riesgos en los procesos de negocio asegura que se prioricen los recursos limitados de la organización para abordar de la manera más eficiente los problemas que más les afectarán, y se logre de esa manera su continuidad y sostenibilidad. Este artículo explora preguntas asociadas a: ¿Cuáles son los riesgos que se asocian a los procesos de negocio? y ¿Cómo el uso del modelado BPM y la minería de procesos facilitan la gestión de los riesgos en todas las etapas del ciclo de vida de los procesos? Los aportes más importantes están relacionados con el mapeo de los riesgos del ciclo a un marco funcional y específico, y afectan el ciclo de vida en su totalidad, los cuales fueron analizados por medio de una minería de procesos.

The refined process mining framework contains a set of activities that use extracted information from event logs, discovered models and normative ones. Among these activities, we find those dealing with running events in a Structured Business Process (SBP) context, which are the Detect, the Predict and the Recommend activities. These three activities are nominated as an operational support system that aims at detecting deviations, predicting events and recommending actions. In this regard, operational support systems perform well on SBP while, it stills a challenging task for an Unstructured Business Process (UBP). This puts forward the difficulty of predicting events and recommending actions for UBP, because of its complex structure. In this context, simplification and structuring operations must be applied. Therefore, the intervention of other process mining activities is required for business process simplification and structuring. To this end, we present an operational support approach dealing with UBP, using the refined process mining framework activities.

Continuous improvement of agile software processes is inevitable in order to reach sustainable and high‐quality project outcomes. In this sense, organizations need guidance on how to apply agile software process improvement effectively; comprehensive approaches with in‐depth analysis and guidelines are required to keep software processes in balance and to continuously improve them, as in a typical business process, over time. This research aims to explore the implementation of Business Process Management approach for improving an agile software process and accordingly agile maturity level. Many organizations utilize from Business Process Management approach in order to improve workflows and to discover organization‐specific weaknesses. For this purpose, the study presents a practical, flexible model based on Business Process Management approach for agile software process improvement, which also incorporates maturity assessment for measuring the agile maturity level. Furthermore, an exploratory case study with a triangulation methodology of mixed methods was carried out for implementation of the model. The research puts forward that Business Process Management approach can be used for in‐depth analysis of agile software process, discovery of problems, and redesign of the process. The research roadmap introduces worthwhile insights on agile software process improvement for researchers and practitioners.
