The sea has always been a source of inspiration in literature. The sea becomes a creative battleground in literature because it depicts human life full of challenges, difficulties, hopes, and adventures. In literature, the sea becomes a metaphor that helps reveal human life's complexity by showing life's beauty and ferocity. This study aims to advance existing studies to identify unique concepts, ideologies, or discourses relating to the ocean that are hidden in 25 short stories from 2010 to 2021 in Indonesian newspapers. Using an interactive interpretation method, all short stories are analyzed through content analysis techniques to reveal the various creative battle spaces. Through a mixed methods study with a critical approach, this research found four creative battle spaces with their respective subspaces, namely: (1) economic battle space with capitalist and impact of capitalism subspace; (2) moral battle space with action crime and power struggle subspace; (3) inner battle space with serenity, sorrow relief, the battle between reality and desire, and the battle of life subspace; and (4) surrealism idea battle space with the meeting space of two worlds, the endless search, surrealism-economics, and spirituality and imagery subspace.

The article considers some characteristics of digital culture in their relation to modern artistic creativity. New information formats are reflected in linguistic conceptualization of the image of the book, in the nature of its picturing in literary works. Virtualization of the reality associated with the electronic information environment, communicative uncertainty allowing for different interpretations of meaning, destruction of objective statics and stability, and interactivity all are reflected in unconventional images of the book that devalue the ideas of book and world isomorphism and cultural word-centrism. The authors observe the reflection of these processes in the work of "non-digital" literature. Tolstaya's dystopian novel The Slynx can be read as an anti-myth of the book, a critical reflection on the traditional logocentrism of Russian literature. Such features of digital culture as hypertextuality and heterotropic space of the "universal library," the development of "anonymous cyber-personality" and "multi-personality," and disconnection from the meanings of traditional culture all reveal their specific manifestation in the novel.

Digital iterations of African literary texts present scholarly opportunities to interrogate how literature produced and circulated on digital media becomes entangled with the capitalist politics of datafication. In the data paradigm described in the article, literary representations are subject to the workings of neoliberal capital and the constraints of algorithmic systems. Through a postcolonial approach that puts the digital humanities in conversation with African literary studies, the article transcends how digital technologies have evidently changed African literature and tackles the costs of digital literary cultures and networks from Africa. I examine data relations through an African literary culture, which, in the current moment, indisputably exhibits the attainment of new and complex elements including the integration of digital affordances in the production and critical reception of texts. How African literary expressions in a digital age circulate in market-driven digital platforms like Facebook and YouTube makes the subjects of data capitalism or the coloniality of data as important for African literature as the expanded literary networks enabled by the digital.
