Abstract:Mutations and loss of activity in the protein kinase PINK1 play a role in the pathogenesis of Parkinsons disease (PD). PINK1 regulates many aspects of mitochondrial quality control including mitochondrial autophagy (mitophagy), fission, fusion, transport, and biogenesis.
