Abstract:The reconstruction of paranasal defects remains a challenge; nevertheless, the growing toolbox of reconstructive instruments facilitates a perfect reconstructive result.
“…To further reduce recurrence rates, the introduction of Mohs micrographic surgery techniques or the extension of surgical resection margins with special respect to the basal side and underlying bony as well as cartilaginous structures might be considered . As established and esthetically acceptable reconstruction methods for any defect geometry are available, tumor resection should be driven strictly by tumor extension. Further research will be necessary to elucidate the efficacy of such measures in advanced care centers.…”
Complete facial BCC excision at the first surgical appointment is pivotal in reducing the likelihood of recurrence. The influence of the anatomic location of facial BCC on recurrence rates may be limited.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
