Deep searches for decametre-wavelength pulsed emission from radio-quiet gamma-ray pulsars

Abstract: We report the results of (a) extensive follow-up observations of the gamma-ray pulsar J1732−3131 that has been recently detected at decameter wavelengths, and (b) deep searches for counterparts of 9 other radio-quiet gamma-ray pulsars at 34 MHz, using the Gauribidanur radio telescope. No periodic signal from J1732−3131 could be detected above a detection threshold of 8σ, even with an effective integration time of more than 40 hours. However, the average profile obtained by combining data from several epochs, a… Show more

“…The noise is determined in an area around the burst visually confirmed to be free of interference. We used the modified radiometer equation (Cordes & McLaughlin 2003;Maan & Aswathappa 2014) to convert the obtained S/N to All 30 bursts from R1 detected with Apertif. Each burst was dedispersed to a DM of 560.5 pc cm −3 .…”

“…Search for transient events in these blank sky observations (nearly 250 individual sessions of 30 minutes each) also did not result in detection of any significant dispersed pulse (Maan & Aswathappa 2014).…”

“…Results of deep searches for the periodic radio signals from both the pulsars, using these 45 observing sessions, were reported in Maan & Aswathappa (2014). Observations towards several radio-quiet gamma-ray pulsars were also reported by Maan & Aswathappa (2014), which serve as blank sky observations for the findings presented below. Additionally, at least one of the two control pulsars -B0834+06 and B1919+21 -was observed on the days when the target source observations were conducted.…”
