“…Morphology and immunophenot conWrmed that the most frequent high-grade tumor in DDCS is the MFH, conWrmed by our analysis as well (18 MFH in 25 DCHSA) (Wick and Siegal 1987;Kinkor and Lunácková 2003;Rinaggio et al 2004;Saifuddin et al 2004, Staals et al 2006). In addition to the above, OSa, FSa, RMSa and angiosarcoma are also reported in the literature as the possible DDCS components (Wick and Pring and Weber 2001;Casorzo andChiecchio 2003, Röpke et al 2003;Dickey and Rose 2004;Rinaggio et al 2004;Bruns and Fiedler 2005).…”

“…In this regard, a possible approach could be to use MRI to select specific areas of the tumor to be sampled. It has been shown that reduced signal intensity on T2-weighted MRI may represent foci of dedifferentiation and should be the preferred site of biopsy [23]. All of our biopsies were done by experienced musculoskeletal radiologists who had MRI findings in most cases and attempted to target the areas that looked by imaging to be the area of highest grade.…”

“…There is considerable interobserver variability among pathologists when dealing with cartilaginous tumors [8,22,23]; therefore, the role of preoperative biopsy has been controversial. Clinical manifestations and radiological features are used, alone or correlated with histology, to make therapeutic decisions [2,5,7,11,14,22,27].…”
