Decreased expression of USP9X is associated with poor prognosis in Chinese pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patients

Abstract: Abstract. The present study aimed to investigate the expression level of ubiquitin specific peptidase 9X (USP9X) and its clinical significance in Chinese patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The mRNA expression levels of USP9X in 30 paired PDAC tissue samples were examined by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The protein expression of USP9X was analyzed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) in a tissue microarray containing 205 PDAC specimens. All analyses were performed b… Show more

“…USP9X is downregulated in pancreatic PDAC cell lines and in over 50% of PDAC tumors. It serves as a tumor suppressor gene, and its expression is inversely correlated with metastasis and poor post-surgical survival [ 156 ]. USP9X knockdown in mouse PDAC cells suppressed anoikis, partially by disabling the Usp9x/Itch pathway.…”

“…USP9X is therefore identified as an anticancer target in osteosarcoma [44]. Conversely, USP9X has tumor suppressor functions in certain types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer [45] and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma [46]. It has been reported that USP9X is an integral component of centrosome and regulates centrosome duplication [38,47,48].…”
