Decrease of soluble oil in animal feeding stuffs during storage

Abstract: The oil contents of samples of compound feeding stuff, when determined by simple solvent extraction, appear to decrease progressively as the age of the sample increases. These losses can be substantial even over short periods and may lead to discrepancies between analyses made a t different times. The referee function of the Government Chemist is involved and the phenomenon has accordingly been investigated, largely in this instance from the quantitative standpoint.
