Decorating MOF-Derived Nanoporous Co/C in Chain-Like Polypyrrole (PPy) Aerogel: A Lightweight Material with Excellent Electromagnetic Absorption

Abstract: To clear away the harmful effects of the increment of electromagnetic pollution, high performance absorbers with appropriate impedance matching and strong attenuation capacity are strongly desired. In this study, a chain-like PPy aerogel decorated with MOF-derived nanoporous Co/C (Co/C@PPy) has been successfully prepared by a self-assembled polymerization method. With a filler loading ratio of 10 wt %, the composite of Co/C@PPy could achieve a promising electromagnetic absorption performance both in intensity … Show more

“…Unlike the PPy structure, the peak observed around 398.5 eV in Figure 4B belonged to the quinonoid amine structure (═N) and represented the PANi in the ASA structure 55 . The peaks observed around 284.65, 285.35, and 287.9 eV in the C1s spectrum of the PPy structure shown in Figure 4C represent CC bonds, CN bonds, and C═O/CO bonds, respectively 56,57 . In Figure 4D, the peak representing the C═O/CO structure has increased.…”

“…Conductive polymers, including polypyrrole, polythiophene and polyaniline, also draw an increasing research attention in the field of microwave absorption due to their excellent electrical conductivity [ 10 , 159 , 160 ]. For example, Sun and co -workers prepared a chain-like polypyrrole (PPy) aerogel ornamented with ZIF-67-derived Co/C composites (Co/C@PPy aerogel) using the self-assembled polymerization method [ 161 ]. The Co/C nanoparticles was mixed with pyrrole monomer and aged in mixture solvent of deionized water and anhydrite, and then aerogels were obtained after dialysis.…”

“…So, it has shown promising prospect in the field of MAMs. In Wang’s report, a chain-like PPy (Polypyrrole) aerogel decorated with MOF-based nanoporous Co/C (Co/C@PPy) has been successfully prepared by a self-assembled polymerization method [ 136 ]. The composite Co/C@PPy can reach the optimal RL value of − 44.76 dB at 17.32 GHz with the thickness of 2.0 mm.…”
