Decontamination as a precursor to decommissioning. Status report Task 2: process evaluation. [PWR; BWR]

Abstract: Current work on a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission supported program on decontamination as a precursor to decommissioning is described. The work includes a description of ongoing laboratory efforts in compiling a unified comparison of decontamination ability and corrosiveness of twelve decontamination solvents. Some of the solvents, too reactive for use in normal operating plant decontamination, were found to be suitable for decommissioning purposes.
