Abstract: The pyrolysis of l-n-butoxy-l-(tert-butylperoxy)ethane in triisopropylbenzene leads to the formation of methane, tert-butyl alcohol, 5-butyl formate and E-butyl acetate as previously described. To verify the hypotheses on the origin of the esters a kinetic analysis of this reaction has been performed by differential scanning microcalorimetry.
