Decomposition of Vibration Signals into Deterministic and Nondeterministic Components and its Capabilities of Fault Detection and Identification

Abstract: The paper investigates the possibility of decomposing vibration signals into deterministic and nondeterministic parts, based on the Wold theorem. A short description of the theory of adaptive filters is presented. When an adaptive filter uses the delayed version of the input signal as the reference signal, it is possible to divide the signal into a deterministic (gear and shaft related) part and a nondeterministic (noise and rolling bearings) part. The idea of the self-adaptive filter (in the literature referr… Show more

“…Such techniques as the discrete random separation (DRS) (Antoni, Randall, 2004), self adaptive noise cancellation (SANC) (Ho, Randall, 2000) and the time synchronous averaging (TSA) (Braun, 2010), which benefits from the slippage phenomena, has been proposed with good results. This technique was applied to wind turbines diagnostics by Barszcz (2009). A number of papers proposed methods to improve the signal to noise ratio of the REB fault component by selecting a frequency range in which the energy of the signal component is relatively stronger.…”

“…This current is converted first into direct current power and then into alternating current power of frequency equal to the grid frequency. Electric transformations are performed by the controller at the base of the tower (Barszcz, 2009b). The simulation of gears was presented by many authors, e.g.…”

“…Therefore, a method of diagnostic signal extraction is needed to provide useful information regarding the bearing condition. A number of techniques are described for the separation of bearing signals from background signals which mask it [7][8][9][10]. For some specific requirements (e.g.…”
