In this study, phosphorus-doped watermelon rind carbon material (WC-M) was prepared by a muffle furnace, and the adsorption performance of WC-M material to dyes was investigated. At the same time, the effects of dye concentration, pH, adsorption time, adsorption temperature, and other factors on the adsorption effect were investigated. In the experiment, a muffle furnace was used to carbonize the watermelon rind doped with phosphoric acid, which simplified the experimental operation. Regarding the results of SEM analysis, the surface structure of WC-M materials is diverse. Isothermal maps of nitrogen adsorption and desorption show that the material contains more microporous structures and exhibits more active sites. The experimental results show that WC-M materials show good adsorption properties against cationic dyes (malachite green, MG) and anionic dyes (active black, AB). The neutral condition is conducive to the adsorption of MG, and the alkaline condition is conducive to the adsorption of AB. The adsorption rate reaches a maximum in the initial stage of adsorption, the adsorption capacity reaches 50% of the total adsorption capacity within 10 minutes before the reaction, and then the adsorption capacity gradually decreases until the adsorption equilibrium. The adsorption mechanism was explored by the pseudo-first-order kinetic model, second-order kinetic model, and intraparticle diffusion model. At the same time, through the analysis of multiple isotherm models, the overall adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm model, the adsorption of MG was more inclined to monolayer electron adsorption, and the adsorption capacity reached 182.68 mg⋅g−1. The reusability of WC-M materials in MG and AB adsorption was discussed. At this time, the concentrations of AB and MG were 120 mg⋅L−1 and 150 mg⋅L−1, and after 10 h of desorption, the desorption rates of MG and AB reached 67.7% and 83.3%, respectively; after five adsorption–desorption cycles, the adsorption rate of MG was still 78.5%, indicating that WC-M materials have good recovery effect. At the same time, the use of watermelon rind as an adsorption material belongs to the high-value application of watermelon rind, which belongs to “turning waste into treasure” and will not pose a certain threat to the environment. This experiment is also suitable for durian rind, pineapple rind, and other “waste” biomass materials, and the experiment has certain generalizations.

Background: Erythrosine B (ErB), known as Red No. 3, is a synthetic cherry-pink food colorant widely used in foods, drugs, and cosmetics. It is considered potentially dangerous; and its use is restricted in most countries although its negative impact on the human body has not yet been proven. Aim: This study aimed to assess the chronic toxic effects of ErB on reproductive organs (ovaries) of adult albino rats using body and reproductive relative organ weight parameters; combined with biochemical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical methods. Materials and methods: Thirtytwo adult female albino rats were divided as follows: female control groups (16 rats= "8 negative control & 8 positive control group"); female ErB-treated group (8 rats), administrated ErB dissolved in distilled water at a dose of 136 mg/kg once daily for 6 months, and ErB recovery group (8 female rats) that maintained life for 1 month after stopping of ErB. Results: The present study revealed that ErB has chronic toxic effects on female reproductive organs (ovaries), illustrating the physical reduction in body weight and relative ovarian weight. Disturbed hormonal levels (a significant increase in follicular stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, while a significant reduction in progesterone and estradiol) and oxidative stress markers ( highly significant reduction of glutathione and increase of malondialdehyde) in ovarian tissue homogenate were confirmed histopathological by alternating the normal structure of ovarian tissue and immunohistochemically ( positive reaction of caspase 3) in ovaries of the ErB-treated female group. These changes were improved in the recovery group. Conclusion: Oral exposure of adult albino rats to ErB at a dose of 136 mg/kg daily for the period of the study (6 months) resulted in toxic hazards to the female reproductive organs (ovaries). These changes were partially improved after stopping ErB for 1 month.

Magnesium ferrite/sulfur‐doped graphitic nitride (MFO/SCNNS) heterostructure has been developed via sonication‐assisted deposition of zero‐dimensional MFO over the surface of two‐dimensional SCN nanosheets. Additionally, the prepared nanocomposite material has been characterized by several analytical characterization techniques including XRD, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), selected‐area electron diffraction (SAED), energy‐dispersive spectrometry (EDS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), UV–Vis. spectroscopy, electron spin resonance(ESR), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) which indicated the existence of strong interfacial interactions via heterojunction formation between MFO and SCNNS. The as prepared nanocomposite, especially MFO:SCNNS (1:1) (having 1:1 mass ratio of MFO to SCNNS), offered impressive photo‐response for the complete degradation of Erythrosine B and Indigo Carmine within 30 min under direct solar light irradiation. The enhanced photoactivity of the MFO:SCNNS (1:1) was also confirmed by the photoluminescence, photocurrent and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The Mott–Schottky analysis also depicts the formation of p‐n heterojunction at the interface of MFO and SCNNS, responsible for the enhanced photoactivity. Additionally, the degradation process has also been studied using mass spectrometry, UV–Vis, and ESR spectral analysis. The trapping experiments were also conducted to confirm the formation of active radical species during the photodegradation reaction. Furthermore, the nanocomposite photocatalytic material offered excellent stability and reusability and thus can serve as an effective candidate for environmental remediation application such as real waste water treatment.
