Decode-and-Forward Relaying for Cooperative NOMA Systems With Direct Links

Abstract: This paper investigates a cooperative nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system, in which a base station communicates with two far users with the aid of a decode-and-forward (DF) relay. Three cooperative relaying schemes, namely, the fixed relaying (FR), selective DF with coordinated direct and relay transmission (SDF-CDRT), and incremental-selective DF (ISDF) relaying are proposed to enhance the outage performance for the two far users by utilizing both the direct and relay links. Taking into account the re… Show more

“…It can be also explained according to Eqs. (32), (34), (36), (38). Besides, the ergodic rate of User 2 for C-NOMA with direct link is the highest as compared to that of User 2 in cases of C-NOMA and OMA.…”

“…Previous studies on the NOMA system used a cooperative relay to improve system performance compared to a direct transmission system. The contributions of previous studies [30][31][32] are the motivation for this research to continue to improve system performance.…”

“…While the relay selection in overlay CR NOMA networks was investigated in [11], which have reliability-oriented and fairness-oriented schemes, it was derived the outage probabilities of PR and SR. More recently, the outage probabilities of the PR and SR in cooperative overlay CR NOMA network with channel errors and SIC errors are studied in [12]. Even though it is not a CR system, there was a study on considering the direct link for a NOMA system, but it does not include a relay selection [13].…”

“…International Journal of Intelligent Engineering and Systems, Vol. 13 In this paper, we proposed an overlay CR NOMA system with direct link and selection relay, which improves the performance of the PR and the SR. And the performance of the PR and the SR have been derived in closed-form and the analytical results were confirmed with the simulation. At the given condition, the performance of the PR with MRC is better than the PR with SC.…”
