Decisionarium—aiding decisions, negotiating and collecting opinions on the web

Abstract: Decisionarium (www.decisionarium.hut.fi) is the first public site for interactive multicriteria decision support with tools for individual decision-making as well as for group collaboration and negotiation. Web-HIPRE (www.hipre.hut.fi) supports value tree and AHP analysis including group models. The RICH methodology (www.rich.hut.fi) allows the decision maker to provide incomplete ordinal preference statements when considering the relative importance of attributes in a value tree. “…In the 100-factor solution, 21 factors are related to MCDM applications. These applications cover not only traditional application areas, such as asset management [24], scheduling problem [25], assignment problem [26], questionnaire survey [27], credit scoring [28,29,30,31], and risk evaluation [32,33,34]; but also emerging novel areas, such as verbal data classification [35], Web-based decision support [36], habitual domains [37], electronic commerce systems [38,39], and e-participation [40]. The second trend is that MCDM has entered into some new research areas [41].…”

“…Smart Swaps is the software for the implementation of even swaps (Hämäläinen, 2003). This program helps the decision-maker with even swaps offering suggestions for alternatives that present practical dominance and presenting the attributes that can be candidates for the next swap, avoiding the need for the decision-maker to study the method in detail before applying it (Mustajoki & Hämäläinen, 2005).…”
