Deciphering the influence of multiple anthropogenic inputs on taxonomic and functional profiles of the microbial communities in Yitong River, Northeast China

Abstract: We conducted physicochemical parameters analysis, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction to explore the impact of human inputs on the bacterioplankton communities within a tributary of the largest river owing through a megacity in northeast China.Agriculture largely accounted for the alteration of diversity and functions of the microbial communities. Furthermore, nutrients were signi cantly declined at the reservoir outlet, and WWTP e uent discharge caused changes in … Show more

“…Water temperature ( T ), pH, electric conductivity, oxidation–reduction potential, and total dissolved solids (TDSs) were measured in the field. The laboratory analysis was carried out within 24 h, following the standard methods suggested by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, which were presented in our earlier study . The tested items included total organic carbon (TOC), ammonia nitrogen (NH 3 -N), nitrite (NO 2 – -N), nitrate (NO 3 – -N), total phosphorus (TP), and Fe, Mn, K, Mg, Ca, and Si.…”

“…Due to the thick ice on the surface of the river, we were able to collect only 7 of 10 samples during the ice-sealed period. Figure 1 illustrates the sampling locations [33,34], and the longitude and latitude information for each point is provided in Table S1.…”

“…Due to the thick ice on the surface of the river, we were able to collect only 7 of 10 samples during the ice-sealed period. Figure 1 illustrates the sampling locations [33,34], and the longitude and latitude information for each point is provided in Table S1. We positioned ten sampling sites throughout a 29.5 km section of the Yitong River in the city of Changchun (43°71′ N to 43°97′ N, 125°34′ E to 125°36′ E).…”
