Decentralized Economic Dispatch Scheme With Online Power Reserve for Microgrids

Abstract: Decentralized economic operation schemes have several advantages when compared with the traditional centralized management system for microgrids. Specifically, decentralized schemes are more flexible, less computationally intensive, and easier to implement without relying on communication infrastructure. Economic operation of existing decentralized schemes is also usually achieved by either tuning the droop characteristics of distributed generators (DGs) or prioritizing their dispatch order. For the latter, an… Show more

“…The ED solves an optimisation problem where the goal is to achieve the minimum operating cost of the MG, subject to some operating constraints. It is worth to mention that the ED can be implemented using centralised, decentralised [262]- [267] and distributed control approaches [44], [112], [132], [134], [135], [138], [139], [148], [169], [268]- [281].…”

“…Meanwhile, in [264], a linear droop function is proposed, which is easier to tune and implement to produce a cost reduction. In [267], some constraints, such as voltage, and frequency limits, are included in the optimisation problem. On the other hand, in [262], an adaptive droop has been proposed, with the droop coefficients being based on the maximum generating cost of each DER unit.…”

“…This improve calculating speed of the method effectively. In [63] , MAS performs an economic dispatch through decentralizd priority ranking. Taking generation shortage for example, each CG Agent inquires cost rate function of its corresponding CG, and finds out the derivative value situates in current output.…”
