Abstract

This is the last and smallest issue of 2019. It continues pursuing progress in wound healing, including diabetic foot. 1,2 It also continues this year's educational articles about medical writing. 3,4 In the context of the latter, Lazarides et al 5 provide a brief but useful guide on pitfalls and misconducts inherent in medical writing. Moreover, Smina et al 6 explore the contribution of diabetic foot ulcers and inflammatory cytokines to the deterioration of kidney function among South Indian subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Schmidt and Holmes 7 report that worse outcomes are associated with inpatient treatment among patients with diabetic foot ulcers and Charcot osteoarthropathy. Zhu et al 8 have summarized the STAGE principles of wound treatment for clinical practice in accordance with the well-known Wagner and University of Texas classification systems for diabetic foot ulcers. They suggest that their approach will improve therapeutic strategies in this area. Burusapat 9 has retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of perforator flaps for distal lower extremity wounds and proposed surgical guidelines. Finally, Zhu and Song 10 describe a rare case of recurrent lower extremity ulcer. And Christmas is approaching. Let us enjoy holidays with the current issue.
