Decay of 104, 106g, mIn

Abstract: The decays of 104,106In produced by (p, xn) reactions have been studied through γ, γ–γ, β, and β–γ spectroscopic methods. The measured β-decay half-lives are 1.8 ± 0.2 min for 104In (5+), 6.2 ± 0.1 min for 106gIn (6+, 7+), and 5.2 ± 0.1 min for 106mIn (3+). The decay schemes of 106m,gIn, 104In are presented.

“…(ME= -76.76MeV) [11,17], and our result of the QEc value for l~ we compute a mass excess value of ME= +700 -72,800 ~ookeV for the latter nuclide. This result in turn can he combined with e-decay [3] and proton-decay [8] data to yield approximate values for i~ ll2Xe,1~ and ~13Cs, the last two nuclides being beyond the proton-drip line.…”

“…The 7-transitions were assigned to the final nuclei by the measured half-lifes, excitation functions and comparison of the measured to calculated yields. The values of Qec were taken for the nuclei l~176 and ~~ as average of the calculated values given by Maripuu [21], for the nuclei l~ a~176 from [1,2,22]. Standard parameters were chosen for the level densities, spincutoff parameters, etc.…”

“…In more recent work on the decay of t~ the level scheme has been completed ( [2,29]). The cross section for excitation of the low-spin isomer (1=(3) according to [2]) is found in the heavy ion reaction used in this work to be less than 3 % of the cross section for the ground state. +coincidences the 6.4 min high-spin isomer was determined to be the ground state of 1~ E2].…”

“…6) and the strong y-ray feeding from the 1 + levels suggest U=2 +. However, the beta decay pattern [32,33] QEc-value has been deduced from the intensities of the 1190 and 864 keV transitions in the singles spectrum and the spectrum gated by the annihilation radiation. The procedure was identical to the one adopted in our first study of t~ [5].…”
