Abstract

Thepresent workputs into perspective claims that have been made in a recent article by Paolillo (1998). It is pointed out that the conclusions drawn are based on misrepresentation and misunderstanding of our general approach äs well äs the aims of the criticized study by Köhler and Ruch (1994) in particular. Different ways of taxonomizing humor are discussed and it is concludedon the basis ofboth studies that Far Side humor falls well within the boundaries ofthe taxonomy of humor we developed.
