Death-associated protein-3, DAP-3, correlates with preoperative chemotherapy effectiveness and prognosis of gastric cancer patients following perioperative chemotherapy and radical gastrectomy

Abstract: Background:DAP3 is a member of the death-associated protein (DAP) family and is characterised by proapoptotic function. It is involved in both exogenous and endogenous apoptotic pathways. In our previous studies, apoptotic level was found to be correlated with the effectiveness of preoperative chemotherapy. The effectiveness of preoperative chemotherapy was also associated with the overall effectiveness of the combined therapy and prognosis. The present study aimed to investigate the role of DAP3 in the evalua… Show more

“…As such, it is not surprising that mS29/DAP3 has been connected to numerous cancers. DAP3 expression was found to be from low to nonexistent in B-cell lymphoma cells, non-small cell lung cancers, as well as in head and neck, breast, colon and gastric cancers, possibly owing to hypermethylation of the DAP3 gene promoter [132, 133]. The role of DAP3 in cancer might be tissue-dependent.…”

“…The role of DAP3 in cancer might be tissue-dependent. In some cases, DAP3 expression has been positively correlated with improved cancer prognosis, suggesting that DAP3 could combat cancer progression through its proapoptotic function [132, 133]. In these cases, DAP3 could serve as a potential biomarker to monitor the effectiveness of chemotherapy or other therapeutic treatments.…”

“…Thus, retroviral transcripts may contribute to the malignant cellular phenotype of this cell line by counteracting DAP3 expression, and thereby suppressing apoptosis. Aberrant expression levels of DAP3 have been suggested to play a role in some cases of malignant disease [58–63]. The data shown here indicate that most of the HML-10 LTRs are even weaker expressed than the one analyzed.…”

“…AI, KI, and AI/KI were associated with chemotherapy efficacy and prognosis in patients treated with preoperative chemotherapy. Jia et al [47] investigated the role of death-associated protein-3 (DAP-3) in the evaluation of preoperative chemotherapy efficacy and prognosis of GC. The higher expression of DAP-3 was correlated with better prognosis.…”
