“…For instance a reduction in the number of root-forming explants has been shown in tobacco thin layers (Altamura et al, 1991), where DL-a-difluoromethylarginine (DFMA) plus DL-a-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO), specific inhibitors of arginine and ornithine decarboxylase respectively, almost totally inhibit rhizogenesis. Cyclohexylamine (CHA), a competitive inhibitor of spermidine synthesis, does not have a strong inhibitory effect on root formation, whereas methylglyoxal-bis(guanyl)hydrazone (MGBG), a SAMDC inhibitor, almost totally depresses the formation of root meristemoids in the explants (Altamura et al, 1991(Altamura et al, , 1993.
