Introdução: Este artigo relata a experiência de uma médica durante a residência em Medicina de Família e Comunidade, iniciada em março de 2021 (período da pandemia de COVID-19), atuando em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde no Alto Sertão da Paraíba, na cidade de São José de Piranhas, além de experiências enquanto preceptora do Internato médico do Centro Universitário Santa Maria. Objetivo: Discorrer sobre experiências vividas durante a residência e a preceptoria do internato médico, durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, realizado durante a residência médica no período de março de 2021 a janeiro de 2023. Resultados: A medicina de família e comunidade faz uso da longitudinalidade, da coordenação do cuidado, da prevenção de agravos, do vínculo e compreende o paciente que existe além da doença. Infelizmente, grande parte dos médicos que cursam a residência se especializam na área e partem para outras especialidades focais posteriormente, não se fixando na APS. Sabe-se que as áreas de atuação da MFC são diversas, como: gestão, assistência, SUS, saúde suplementar, ensino, etc. Durante minha experiência enquanto docente foram realizadas diversas atividades de educação em saúde com os usuários sobre os mais diversos temas, além de atividades no Programa Saúde na Escola, visitas domiciliares, discussões de casos clínicos complexos, apresentações de seminários, capacitação dos agentes comunitários de saúde, consultas em conjunto com outros profissionais e abordagem integral dos usuários, havendo um saldo positivo de aprendizado. Conclusão: a pandemia da COVID-19 trouxe grandes mudanças e transformações para o Brasil e o mundo a curto e a longo prazo. Tais mudanças afetaram os mais diversos âmbitos da vida, inclusive a educação médica. Contudo, apesar dos prejuízos causados, a longo prazo e com um melhor reajuste, é possível tirar bons aprendizados e evoluir buscando melhorar os serviços de ensino e de assistência.
