This paper has two main objectives: (1) to assess the heritage value of four geomorphological landscapes in Southern Iceland from a geomorphological perspective and (2) to see to what extent the heritage values assigned by different local stakeholders overlap with this assessment. The concept of “geomorphological landscape”, that we define as a landscape whose geomorphological component is of heritage interest, is a scale of analysis that can be understood by different groups of people and that reflects subjective perceptions of the landscape. The evaluation of the heritage value of four geomorphological landscapes has shown that their geoscientific, aesthetic and cultural values are particularly high. Indeed, thanks to their rarity, representativeness, integrity and paleogeographic interest, all four sites have a geoscientific value ranging from 0.81 to 0.94 (the maximum possible score is 1). They also constitute spectacular and beautiful landscapes and have acquired a relevant cultural value because of the major impacts that volcanic eruptions and glaciers advances have had on the local population. Not surprisingly, the heritage awareness of managers of protected areas is high. The interviews also show that other types of stakeholders, such as tourism services providers, tourism promoters and representatives of local authorities, are also aware, to some extent, of the high geoscientific value. The societal and institutional recognition of the heritage value of these geomorphological landscapes is closely linked to their use as territorial resources for tourism.

The objective of this study is to examine the evolution of Ecotourism on Geoheritage through bibliometric analysis. Total of 53 papers pertaining exclusively to the domain of Ecotourism on Geoheritage, spanning from 2008 to 2022, were gathered from the Scopus database. This study examines the core aspects and features of Ecotourism on Geoheritage in academic research. It employs topic analysis, concurrence analysis, and timeline analysis of author keywords to investigate factors such as annual publication contribution, popularity, and focus. Furthermore, the analysis incorporates many productive entities, including journals, authors, institutions, countries, regions, and the mapping of significant collaboration links. These elements are utilized to determine the level of attention received by different entities in the field of Ecotourism on Geoheritage research. Furthermore, this study examines the citation structure of authors and journals and provides a detailed analysis of burst detection in cited authors, journals, and references. Ultimately, the study findings will be integrated with the present financial circumstances to delve further into future development obstacles and prospects. This bibliometric analysis reveals a consistent rise in yearly publications, a notable shift in emphasis towards financial inclusion, a prevailing presence of authors from Australia, and a growing number of international collaborations and publications from diverse sources. These findings indicate that the field of Ecotourism on Geoheritage is dynamic and holds promise for future scientific advancement. Hence, this exhaustive analysis of the Ecotourism on Geoheritage document not only examines the features and course of existing research but also assists researchers in identifying the appropriate research starting point and conducting thorough investigations.

Depuis les années 2000, plus d’une soixantaine de gisements à dinosaures ont été aménagés ou ont subi une importante restauration. Le géotourisme dinosaurien s’appuie désormais sur une offre mondialisée. Le discours de médiation s’est longtemps construit sur les valeurs scientifiques de ces géopatrimoines. Mais l’importance progressive prise par les valeurs immatérielles associées, largement relayée dans le cadre du label Géoparc, conduit désormais à privilégier certaines valeurs additionnelles associées aux savoirs locaux et profanes. Ces valeurs interrogent la notion d’authenticité patrimoniale. Le Géoparc mondial UNESCO Pays d’Hateg, dans les Carpates roumaines, illustre parfaitement cette évolution des valeurs patrimoniales.
