De l’extrême droite à l’abstention : effets des changements d’arènes d’un étudiant en sociologie

Abstract

From the extreme right to abstention : the effects of changing arenas for a student of sociology. Based on a series of biographical interviews, the aim is to explain a student’s sympathies with the extreme right wing and then his change in attitude by examining his identity in relation to himself and others. The analysis of points of options, re-articulation and dis-articulation in his trajectory enables us to consider the situations where political opinions change as consequences of a conflict in identity and self-appraisal following school and social outings. The changing phases in one’s school career, in particular those which generate fluctuating contexts, encourage the process of differentiation.
