DC operating points of transistor circuits

Abstract: Abstract:Finding a circuit's dc operating points is an essential step in its design and involves solving systems of nonlinear algebraic equations. Of particular research and practical interests are dc analysis and simulation of electronic circuits consisting of bipolar junction and fieldeffect transistors (BJTs and FETs), which are building blocks of modern electronic circuits. In this paper, we survey main theoretical results related to dc operating points of transistor circuits and discuss numerical methods … Show more

“…A continuation method is a method of dc circuit analysis that under proper conditions, is guaranteed to find a circuit's operating point [26], [27]. It can be also used in calculating a circuit's periodic steady-state response [24], [25].…”

“…Such task is crucial because it directly affects the performance and yield of the circuit. In addition, this analysis is problematic, since finding equilibrium points consists in searching for the roots of a non linear vector valued function [1]. Moreover, the root search problem becomes more complicated under circuit parameters variation that directly affect the location and stability of DC operating points.…”
